Muan County to Support Surgery Costs for Vasectomy and Vasovasostomy Restoration

500,000 KRW for Men,
1,000,000 KRW for Women

Muan County, South Jeolla Province (Governor Kim San) is newly implementing a subsidy program for vasectomy and tubal ligation reversal procedures this year to address the low birth rate issue.

According to the county on the 1st, this program is designed to reduce the financial burden and encourage childbirth by providing financial support for vasectomy and tubal ligation reversal procedures to residents who previously underwent permanent sterilization but now wish to have children.

The eligible recipients are male residents under the age of 55 and female residents under the age of 49 who have been registered in Muan for at least six months. If eligible residents undergo the procedure at a designated medical institution in South Jeolla Province, they can receive support for their out-of-pocket expenses once in their lifetime: up to 500,000 KRW for vasectomy reversal and up to 1,000,000 KRW for tubal ligation reversal.

Applicants can visit their local public health center to apply and verify their eligibility, receive a support decision notice, and submit the notice to the medical institution to undergo the procedure. After making the payment themselves, they can claim the surgery cost reimbursement from the public health center.

Governor Kim San stated, "We will do our best to address the low birth rate issue step by step through this program," and added, "I hope this will provide practical help to residents and families who wish to have children."
