Jinju City Holds Meeting of Barrier-Free City Eup-Myeon-Dong Chairpersons Council

Active Promotion of
"Jinju, a Disability-Friendly City for All"

Jinju City, Gyeongnam, announced on the 1st that it held a meeting of the 'Jinju City Barrier-Free City Eup, Myeon, and Dong Committee Chairpersons' Council' (hereinafter referred to as the Council) at the City Hall cultural lecture room, with 30 chairpersons from Eup, Myeon, and Dong committees in attendance.


During the meeting, the participants shared the achievements and performance of the 2nd phase Barrier-Free City (2020-2024) master plan over the past five years and discussed areas for supplementation and improvement. They also exchanged opinions on public-private cooperation in relation to the '3rd phase (2025-2029) Barrier-Free City Master Plan' and the '2025 Annual Plan.'

In particular, they shared best practices from committee activities conducted in each Eup, Myeon, and Dong, discussed ways to revitalize the committees through information exchange, and pledged active promotion of public-private cooperation to create a disability-friendly city for all.


Kim Minseok, Chairperson of the Barrier-Free City Eup, Myeon, and Dong Committee Chairpersons' Council, stated, "Unlike the previous 2nd phase master plan, which focused somewhat on physical and spatial aspects such as mobility and accessibility for people with disabilities, the 3rd phase master plan includes content aimed at enhancing the overall quality of life for people with disabilities, incorporating cultural and social concepts. As the role of the private sector has expanded, we will do our best at the Eup, Myeon, and Dong level to create a disability-friendly environment."


Deputy Mayor Cha Seokho said, "I would like to thank the chairpersons of the Barrier-Free City Eup, Myeon, and Dong committees for their efforts to improve welfare for people with disabilities. Now that the 3rd phase Barrier-Free City Master Plan has been established, I ask for your cooperation in creating a disability-friendly city under the vision of 'Jinju, a disability-friendly city for all.' The city will also do its utmost to promote related policies and make Jinju a welfare city."
