Dobong-gu Opens Seoul's First 'Green Purchase Support Center' Among Autonomous Districts

As concerns over climate change and environmental issues intensify, sustainable consumption methods are becoming increasingly important. In this context, Dobong-gu has become the first district in Seoul to establish a Green Purchasing Support Center, drawing attention.

The center will offer various programs and information to help local residents make environmentally conscious consumption choices.

The district expects the center to serve as a pivotal hub for spreading eco-friendly consumption culture in the northeastern area of Seoul.

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) officially opened the 'Dobong Green Purchasing Support Center' on March 31 and began full-scale operations.

The 'Dobong Green Purchasing Support Center' was established on the basement first floor of the Hope Platform in Dobong 2-dong (17 Dobong-ro 156-gil), covering an area of 134㎡.

About 90㎡ of this space has been dedicated to a green product exhibition and experience hall. Various green products will be displayed and experiential programs will be conducted here. Any resident can participate free of charge. Information about the exhibition and experience programs can be found on the Dobong-gu website.

The center will also provide green consumption education that is practical for daily life. Starting with the 'Greenbong's Enjoyable Consumption Life' program for young children in April and May, tailored education programs for green consumption leaders and adult visitors will be offered. These educational programs will be conducted in collaboration with the Dobong Environmental Education Center.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, stated, “The Dobong Green Purchasing Support Center has been created as a space where people can learn about green purchasing (exhibition), study it (education), and practice it (purchase). I hope many people visit the center to directly experience and appreciate the importance of green consumption.”

At the opening ceremony on the 31st, many organizations and groups attended to celebrate the launch of the Dobong Green Purchasing Support Center. Representatives from the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute, the National Green Purchasing Support Centers, and others toured the facility with district staff and were introduced to the center’s features.
