The opening ceremony was attended by Lee Dong-hwan, Mayor of Goyang Special City, Kim Un-nam, Chairman of the Goyang City Council, as well as members of the National Assembly, provincial councilors, city councilors, heads of professional organizations, and residents.
Route 7602 (Goyang-dong~Yeongdeungpo) is a direct seat-type route selected as a Daegwang Metropolitan Bus in 2024. After vehicle delivery and operational preparations, it will begin service on April 1.
This newly established route starts from Goyang-dong, a metropolitan bus underserved area, and is expected to contribute to creating a business-friendly transportation environment by passing through the newly developed residential districts of Samsong, Wonheung, Hyangdong, and Deogeun-dong in Deogyang-gu, which have had high demand for access to the southwestern Seoul area, as well as the Hyangdong and Deogeun Knowledge Industry Centers.
The city is striving to reorganize the transportation system suitable for local conditions and expand eco-friendly transportation infrastructure to build a well-connected transportation network, which is the goal of the 8th term of the mayor’s administration.
In particular, since 2023, the city has actively participated in the Daegwang Metropolitan Bus semi-public operation system to expand the semi-public operation of metropolitan buses. It is known that the city actively proposed prioritizing the selection of route 7602 to improve the transportation environment in the Deogyang area.
Additionally, all 11 buses on route 7602 will operate as hydrogen electric buses. With a hydrogen charging station fully equipped at the garage, it is expected to contribute to carbon neutrality in connection with the mini hydrogen city pilot project.
Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang Special City said, “I hope that bus 7602 will be a means that accompanies citizens throughout their day from commuting to returning home, providing convenience in daily life and contributing to regional development.” He added, “We will continue to provide stable transportation services by expanding the semi-public operation system and create a livable and business-friendly city by improving the transportation environment in line with urban changes.”
Meanwhile, route 7602 has 11 authorized vehicles, operates 46 trips (44 regular + 2 demand-responsive), with intervals of 25 to 35 minutes. The first bus departs at 5 a.m. and the last bus at 11 p.m. from the starting point.
