Starting from the 1st of next month, free Wi-Fi service will be provided on express buses nationwide.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 31st that it recently agreed to provide free Wi-Fi service on all routes and all vehicles of eight express bus companies. This will be available on all express buses (standard, deluxe, premium) covering 240 routes and 1,724 vehicles.
Until now, free Wi-Fi service has been provided on high-speed trains (KTX, SRT), urban rail, and city buses. The Ministry also stated that it will consult with each province and the industry, which hold intercity bus licenses, to provide free Wi-Fi service on intercity buses, which currently offer it only on some routes such as buses traveling to and from Incheon Airport.

This free Wi-Fi service uses the KT network and offers a maximum speed of 400 Mbps. Users can connect to the Wi-Fi network named after the bus company's English name without a password.
Um Jeong-hee, Director of the Transportation and Logistics Office at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, said, "In the past, physical supply factors such as the number of bus routes and intervals between departures were important, but now qualitative factors such as convenience and satisfaction felt by public transportation users have also become important elements of public transportation service."
