Incheon to Chengdu and Chongqing Now Operating Daily
20% Increase in Flights in Response to China’s Visa Exemption Policy
Asiana Airlines is expanding its air routes to China. On the 31st, Asiana Airlines announced that starting from the 30th, it has increased its China routes from the previous schedule to operate a total of 18 routes with 164 weekly flights.
First, the suspended Incheon~Chengdu and Incheon~Chongqing routes are now operated daily, seven times a week, starting from the day before. Chengdu is famous for the Giant Panda Base where you can meet Fu Bao, the Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area, and its reputation as a city of gourmet food. Chongqing is one of China's four direct-controlled municipalities, known as the birthplace of hot pot, with major tourist spots including the recently popular photo spot Hongyadong and the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River, the setting of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
Asiana Airlines is holding a special promotional event to commemorate the resumption of flights through its website, mobile webpage, and application (app). The event period lasts until the 21st of next month.
Additionally, the Incheon~Dalian route will operate 10 times a week (with 3 additional afternoon flights), and the Incheon~Yanji route will operate 7 times a week (with 2 additional flights weekly), increasing to 8 times a week starting from the 28th of next month. Furthermore, the Incheon~Changchun route will increase from 4 to 9 weekly flights, and the Incheon~Changsha route will increase from 4 to 5 weekly flights.
Asiana Airlines explained that the expansion of China routes is intended to broaden travel options in accordance with China’s visa exemption policy for Korean travelers and to contribute to the revitalization of exchanges between the two countries. The Korean government also plans to implement a temporary visa exemption for Chinese group tourists as part of the 'Global Growth Strategy for the Korean Tourism Market' in the third quarter of this year.
An Asiana Airlines official said, "We prepared this increase in flights in line with the visa exemption policies for travelers between Korea and China," adding, "We will continue to actively expand operations to serve as a bridge for exchanges between the two countries."
