Funds to Be Used for Wildfire Recovery and Housing Support for Disaster Victims
The four northeastern districts of Seoul?Dobong, Seongbuk, Gangbuk, and Nowon?known as 'good neighbors,' have come together to support residents affected by the large-scale wildfires.
These four autonomous districts have decided to provide a total of 10 million won in aid.
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced on March 28 that during the meeting of the Northeastern Four Districts Administrative Council (Chairman Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu), they decided to donate 10 million won in relief funds to support recovery and aid for disaster victims in Gyeongbuk Uiseong and Andong, areas severely affected by the large wildfires.
The meeting was held in Dobong-gu, attended by Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu and chairman of the Northeastern Four Districts Administrative Council, Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, Lee Soon-hee, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, and Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu.
The Northeastern Four Districts Administrative Council was established in 2016 to seek joint regional development and devise cooperative measures. Since its inception, it has held quarterly meetings to discuss and jointly respond to local issues.
At this meeting, disaster relief support measures for the large wildfire-affected areas were the main focus, proposed by Mayor Oh Eon-seok of Dobong-gu.
At this occasion, the Northeastern Four Districts decided to provide relief funds as support measures, allocating 5 million won each to Gyeongbuk Uiseong and Andong, the most severely affected special wildfire disaster areas. The funds will be used for wildfire damage recovery, housing support for disaster victims, and purchasing relief supplies.
Mayor Oh Eon-seok of Dobong-gu said, "I thank Seongbuk-gu, Gangbuk-gu, and Nowon-gu for joining together in support of the large-scale wildfire relief," adding, "I hope this support will help the affected areas recover as soon as possible."
