Intensive Promotion of Wildfire Prevention Rules
Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) announced on the 30th that on the 29th, in celebration of the weekend when many hikers visit, a wildfire prevention campaign and joint inspection of wildfire suppression equipment were conducted together with related organizations and residents at Bukhansan National Park and Gaewoonsan.

This campaign was organized to raise awareness of the importance of wildfire prevention and to instill vigilance among not only hikers but also residents living near the mountains, due to the increased risk of wildfires caused by the dry weather in spring.
The campaign involved about 120 participants, including Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, Seongbuk-gu office staff, Seongbuk Fire Station and volunteer fire brigade wildfire monitoring team, Bukhansan National Park, the Autonomous Disaster Prevention Group, Village Safety Council, and residents of Jeongneung 2, 3, and 4-dong. They reaffirmed their commitment to wildfire prevention, inspected wildfire suppression equipment storage boxes, and prepared for any emergencies.
Participants focused on raising wildfire awareness by guiding hikers and nearby residents on wildfire prevention rules and distributing promotional materials. Especially as the recent dry weather continues to increase the risk of wildfires, they concentrated on promoting the prohibition of carrying flammable materials and burning near forest areas. Additionally, they provided instructions on how to promptly report wildfires if they occur.
Mayor Lee Seung-ro stated, “Individual carelessness can lead to large wildfires, and since Seongbuk-gu is a city with beautiful forests, active participation and interest from residents and hikers in wildfire prevention are crucial.” He added, “We will continue efforts to create a safe forest city in cooperation with related organizations.”
Besides this campaign, Seongbuk-gu plans to actively spread interest and vigilance about wildfire prevention by utilizing all promotional means such as outdoor electronic billboards, banners, SNS, and voice announcements through black boxes.
