Selection System Improved to Address Non-Commissioned Officer Shortage
The Air Force is launching the recruitment of candidates for the 253rd Non-Commissioned Officer Candidate Corps through an improved selection process, including the abolition of the written exam failure system.
According to the Air Force on the 30th, from this time onward, the pass/fail system for the first written exam will be eliminated and replaced with a scoring system. Previously, a written exam score below 40 points resulted in failure.
For three specialties?Cyber/Information and Communications, Facilities, and Construction?applicants can now apply as non-commissioned officer candidates without related majors or certifications.
The time from application to announcement of successful candidates has been shortened from about five months to four months, and the application period has been extended from four weeks to five weeks.
Oh Hyun-cheol, Director of Talent Acquisition at Air Force Headquarters, said, "With the decrease in military service resources, there are many constraints in acquiring excellent personnel. We expect that this improvement in the selection system will open the path to becoming an Air Force non-commissioned officer for more talented individuals."
The recruitment for the Air Force 253rd Non-Commissioned Officer Candidate Corps runs from the 31st to the 25th of next month. The final successful candidates will be announced on July 25 after written exams, interviews, and physical examinations.
