Five Tourism Strategies, 21 Action Tasks, and 33 Detailed Projects
Ulsan City has established and is implementing the '2025 Ulsan Metropolitan City Tourism Promotion Plan' in connection with domestic and international tourism environments to create favorable tourism conditions and develop the tourism industry in Ulsan.
The direction of the government's tourism policy for 2025, announced last February, focuses on supporting tourism businesses facing difficulties due to uncertainties in the tourism market and simultaneously revitalizing domestic tourism to enhance the industry's crisis response capabilities.
Additionally, in line with the trend of experience-based tourism and the convergence of content, the goal is to "turn everyday life in Korea and everything about Korea into tourism resources."
Accordingly, Ulsan City has established the '2025 Ulsan Metropolitan City Tourism Promotion Plan' to promote unique and differentiated tourism programs tailored to the latest tourism trends.
The main contents include five tourism strategies and 21 action tasks, comprising 33 detailed projects under the vision of making Ulsan an attractive tourism city where visitors can enjoy rest, leisure, and culture: ▲Preempting new tourism demand and fostering the local tourism industry ▲Promoting regionally specialized convergence exhibition and convention industry (MICE) ▲Creating landmarks of Ulsan as a "fun city" ▲Building stay-type tourism infrastructure to enhance quality of life ▲Tourism services and marketing that embody Ulsan.
In particular, themed around the five letters of "ULSAN," five new programs are being developed that will shape the future of Ulsan: ▲Universal Tourism ▲Light of Ulsan ▲Special Ulsan ▲Attractive Ulsan ▲Nostalgia of Ulsan, drawing significant attention.
A shared tourist city Ulsan that is open to everyone, with a shining night view L, diverse and special S, charming A, and nostalgic N.
With the opening of the Jungang Line and Donghae Line at the end of last year, the number of individual tourists is increasing. In response, plans are in place for stay-type night tourism utilizing industrial landscapes, large-scale southern region tourism development, pet-friendly tourism, Velo Taxi tours through the beautiful Taehwagang National Garden, and the operation of new experiential facilities such as Rising Port.
In addition, the plan includes linking with the Ulsan Industrial Festival, a representative retro festival of Ulsan that brings together not only citizens but people of all ages and tourists.
A city official stated, "Following the milestone of 10,000 foreign tourists visiting Ulsan, we will actively attract both domestic and international tourists in line with the government's policy to 'revitalize domestic travel' and the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting in Gyeongju at the end of October. Through the promotion of various tourism programs under the themes of 'Open, Shining, Special, Attractive, and Nostalgic Ulsan,' we aim to develop Ulsan into an attractive tourism city where visitors can enjoy rest, leisure, and culture."
