WeRobotics showcases ultra-lightweight wearable walking-assist robot WIM at National Assembly
Plans to launch improved model based on user feedback next month

WeRobotics, a C-STAR company based in Cheonan, Chungnam, is taking on the challenge of entering the defense industry.

C-STAR is a program that combines the "C" from Cheonan and "STAR" from startup, providing customized support to startups with strong technological capabilities and high growth potential.

On the 24th, WeRobotics demonstrated its ultra-lightweight wearable walking-assist robot, WIM, at the "AI Strong Military and Warrior Platform Innovation Seminar and Exhibition" held at the National Assembly Members' Office Building.

WIM is known to assist the user's waist and joint movements, reducing impact when moving on slopes or stairs, and also helping to strengthen muscles.

It weighs 1.6 kg and can be used continuously for two hours on a full charge. It is also equipped with an automatic charging function.

Based on feedback from WIM users, WeRobotics plans to develop and launch a new model on the 21st of next month.

Kim Yongjae, a co-CEO and professor at Korea University of Technology and Education, said, "We cannot disclose detailed specifications yet, but we have reduced the size and weight, and improved the design, waterproof performance, and operating modes," adding, "We are preparing to enter the defense industry through overall improvements and performance enhancements."

Meanwhile, the city plans to select the third batch of C-STAR companies next month and recruit a fourth batch in the second half of the year.

Last year, the city assisted 14 C-STAR companies with investment attraction, market development, and demonstration projects. WeRobotics was recognized for its international competitiveness by winning the CES Innovation Award for two consecutive years.

This year, the city plans to expand overseas opportunities in connection with the smart city project, strengthen networking, and attract private investors through investment briefings.
