Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi Province announced on the 27th that it will add 36 new hometown love donation gift items starting April 1.
The Hometown Love Donation System is a program that offers a 100% tax credit up to 100,000 KRW and a 30% gift in return when an individual donates to a local government other than their place of residence. It has become especially popular among salaried workers who are subject to year-end tax adjustments.
Through the Hometown Love Donation System, Yeoncheon-gun raised about 150 million KRW in 2023 and about 240 million KRW in 2024, ranking 5th among the 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province.
An official from Yeoncheon-gun said, "The support for Yeoncheon-gun has led to good results," adding, "Attractive gifts based on Yeoncheon-gun’s agricultural and specialty products also played a part."
Accordingly, Yeoncheon-gun conducted an additional recruitment in February to provide more diverse gifts, and after a gift selection committee review, selected gifts from 15 additional companies. As a result, Yeoncheon-gun will offer a total of 114 gift items from 37 companies.
Kim Deok-hyun, Mayor of Yeoncheon-gun, said, “With this additional selection of gifts, donors will have a wider range of choices, and it is expected to help local farms and manufacturing companies in the area open new markets and promote their products. The Yeoncheon-gun Hometown Love Donation System is a customized policy that expands related populations and drives balanced regional development for our county, which is a border area and experiencing population decline. We thank everyone who participated and will continue to repay with high-quality gifts.”
Meanwhile, Yeoncheon-gun has signed agreements with new suppliers and completed all necessary training. The new gifts will be available for viewing on the ‘Hometown Love e-um’ website starting in April.
