TrapPass Prepaid Card Launch Event
Up to 15% Discount for Lotte Duty Free Gold Members
20% Discount at Lotte World, Lotte Aquarium, and Seoul Sky
Shinhan Card announced on the 27th that it has newly launched the foreigner financial and authentication platform 'TrapPass.' TrapPass is a platform that provides identity verification and payment services for foreign tourists and foreigners residing in Korea.
Foreign tourists can create a contactless authentication mobile passport by using the TrapPass app while staying in Korea. The mobile passport can be used when visiting duty-free shops or receiving tax refunds.
It supports mobile-based payment services such as barcode and online payments. It also offers a service to remit Korean won to friends and family traveling.
Shinhan Card will also introduce two types of registered TrapPass prepaid cards that can be used in conjunction with the app. They plan to expand the payment area to all affiliated stores nationwide. The launch is scheduled for the 1st of next month.
The prepaid cards can be purchased in advance through the TrapPass app and the Interpark Triple app. After purchase, they can be picked up at the CU convenience store in Incheon Airport. They are also available at the offline product store of the National Museum of Korea.
The prepaid cards can be recharged via mobile or convenience stores without visiting a separate kiosk. They can be recharged using existing Master, Amex, and JCB brand cards. They can also be recharged with Korean won exchanged at CU and GS25 stores nationwide.
Shinhan Card is preparing a package product that provides prepaid cards to foreign tourists purchasing KT SIM products through a partnership with the KT Airport Roaming Center.
The TrapPass prepaid card will include public transportation functions usable on domestic subways, buses, and taxis. Foreign tourists can use the taxi call service 'I am Taxi' through the TrapPass app with only member authentication, without a separate registration process.
Shinhan Card will hold various events from next month until the end of the year. First, they will offer up to 15% discounts for Lotte Duty Free Gold members, as well as 20% discounts at Lotte World, Lotte Aquarium, and Seoul Sky. Discount coupons usable at Lotte Duty Free and Lotte Mart will also be provided.
Additionally, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the National Museum of Korea's relocation to Yongsan, Shinhan Card plans to showcase prepaid cards designed with Najeonchilgi patterns and Goryeo celadon images in collaboration with the National Museum Cultural Foundation 'Muze' for foreign tourists.
A Shinhan Card official stated, "Through TrapPass and prepaid cards, we plan to promote a more convenient and beneficial 'K-Finance' to foreign tourists," adding, "We will continue to strive to provide differentiated benefits to foreign tourists, foreign workers, and international students residing in Korea."
