The assets of Gwangju Superintendent of Education Lee Jungseon amounted to 1,581,020,000 KRW, an increase of 126,550,000 KRW compared to last year. In contrast, Jeonnam Superintendent of Education Kim Daejung saw his assets increase by 280,660,000 KRW, but his net worth remained in the negative.
According to the ‘2025 Regular Asset Change Status of Public Officials’ disclosed by the Government Public Official Ethics Committee on the 27th, Superintendent Lee holds the sixth highest amount of assets among superintendents nationwide.
Superintendent Lee reported land assets of 455,100,000 KRW and building assets of 310,100,000 KRW, which showed little change from the previous year. The actual transaction price of the apartment in Gyerim-dong, Dong-gu increased by 15,000,000 KRW, and the acquisition of a 2020 Kona vehicle (15,140,000 KRW) under his eldest son's name contributed to the rise in assets.
Deposits also increased. Deposits under his own name amounted to 230,930,000 KRW, under his spouse’s name 720,060,000 KRW, and under his eldest son's name 7,790,000 KRW. Liabilities decreased from 211,490,000 KRW last year to 171,180,000 KRW.
Superintendent Kim Daejung reported a net worth of -160,350,000 KRW, an improvement of 280,660,000 KRW from last year’s -441,020,000 KRW. This remains the lowest among all superintendents nationwide.
The increase in assets was attributed to his own earned income (110,000,000 KRW), his spouse’s pension income (45,000,000 KRW), his third daughter’s business income (95,000,000 KRW), and proceeds from the sale of real estate in Gokseong, Jeonnam (70,000,000 KRW). Private debts decreased from 971,000,000 KRW to 731,000,000 KRW.
Building assets amounted to 385,400,000 KRW, a decrease from last year, due to the sale of a single-family house in Samgi-myeon, Gokseong-gun for 18,800,000 KRW. He owns two vehicles under his spouse’s name: a Genesis (51,800,000 KRW) and a Morning (4,660,000 KRW); a 2012 Alpheon was scrapped.
Deposits amounted to 105,320,000 KRW, about double the previous year, and deposits under his third daughter's name increased significantly to 61,760,000 KRW. Assets held in a Bithumb cryptocurrency exchange account also increased by 28,410,000 KRW.
