Geochang County Holds Gender Statistics Education for Citizen Participation Group

Citizen Participation Group: The Key Partner in Building a Women-Friendly City

Geochang County, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 27th that it held a gender statistics education session for about 20 members of the Citizen Participation Group, the key partner for the county's women-friendly city initiative, at the county office's main conference room.


This training was organized to expand the use of statistics that consider gender differences in the process of formulating county policies and to strengthen residents' capabilities to participate in policy-making.

Heo Eunhee, Director of the Gyeongnam Gender Impact Assessment Center, gave a lecture on topics including the use and necessity of gender statistics, how our lives have changed through gender statistics, and policy proposals based on Geochang County's gender statistics.


Shin Dongbeom, Director of the Happiness Sharing Division, stated, "Gender statistics serve as an important standard for establishing gender-equal policies," and added, "We will continue to provide education and communication so that the Citizen Participation Group can view policies from a gender equality perspective and offer their opinions."


Geochang County plans to further strengthen gender equality education and policy monitoring in the future, aiming to realize gender-equal administration where all residents can receive equal benefits. To this end, the county will expand resident education linked to gender impact assessments and encourage active participation from residents starting from the policy proposal stage.


In addition, Geochang County will continue to pursue policy improvements using gender statistics, with the goal of creating county administration where everyone can receive benefits equally, regardless of gender.
