Jeong Cheolwon, Damyang County Governor Candidate, Welcomes Lee Jaemyung's Not Guilty Verdict Chulwon Jeong, candidate for Damyang County Governor from the Innovation Party for Justice.

Jeong Cheolwon, the JGUK Innovation Party candidate for Damyang County Governor, stated on the 26th that he "welcomes" the not-guilty verdict in the appellate trial of Lee Jaemyung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea.

In a press release on this day, candidate Jeong said, "I welcome the not-guilty verdict for Representative Lee regarding the Public Official Election Act," and pointed out, "It has been revealed that the prosecution under the Yoon Sukyeol administration made an unreasonable indictment against the opposition leader."

He emphasized, "Now is the time to focus our efforts on the impeachment of Yoon Sukyeol and the construction of a new Republic of Korea through a grand political alliance of 'Daeminkunjo' (President as the united democratic candidate, county governor from the JGUK Innovation Party)."

At the campaign rally for the Damyang County Governor by-election, Kang Kyungsook, a member of the JGUK Innovation Party, came out in support. At the rally held at 2 p.m. in front of the Gasamunhak-myeon Community Center, Representative Kang introduced candidate Jeong, saying, "Candidate Jeong Cheolwon has protected his hometown and has shared joys and sorrows with the residents. He is a human navigation system who puts action before words."

Representative Kang continued, "If candidate Jeong is elected and serves as Damyang County Governor, the 12 National Assembly members of the JGUK Innovation Party promise to do their utmost in all aspects, including budget, legislation, projects, and policies for Damyang County," appealing for support.

After the campaign support, Representative Kang and candidate Jeong visited Jeonnam Provincial University to listen to on-site opinions regarding the Glocal University initiative and the integration of Mokpo University and Jeonnam Provincial University, and discussed solutions.

Meanwhile, candidate Jeong's camp referred to a report by Seoul Finance, stating, "It was reported that, during the last presidential election, members of the Democratic Party in Damyang were asked for money, and it was confirmed that local council members and potential candidates paid between 1 million and 1.5 million won each," and added, "We cannot help but be concerned that this may recur in the current Damyang County Governor by-election."

Candidate Jeong's camp stated, "We firmly reject money-driven elections that distort public opinion and fuel local division and conflict, and we will establish an 'Anti-Money Election Reporting Center' at the campaign headquarters to prevent such practices," adding, "We plan to operate an on-site monitoring team along with accepting reports."
