Seongdong-gu to Hold 'Eungbongsan Forsythia Festival' on the 26th

Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jung Won-oh) will hold the ‘2025 Eungbongsan Forsythia Festival’ at Eungbongsan, filled with the energy of spring, from March 26 to 30.

Eungbongsan is an 81-meter-high rocky mountain spanning Geumho-dong and Eungbong-dong in Seongdong-gu. It is recognized as a representative urban sunrise and scenic spot where visitors can overlook the Han River, Seoul Forest, and the eastern part of Seoul at a glance. Every spring, the entire mountain is covered with forsythia flowers, making it the first place in Seoul to announce the arrival of spring.

The district holds the ‘Eungbongsan Forsythia Festival’ every year for all residents to enjoy together in line with the forsythia blooming season. This year, the festival will be specially extended to a 5-day ‘Forsythia Week’ to allow people to enjoy the beauty of the forsythia flowers longer and fully embrace spring.

▲ Celebration concert ▲ Family essay and drawing contests ▲ Experience programs and forsythia photo zones ▲ Food market operation, and other diverse and abundant events will be held.

On the first day, March 26, the opening performances including a trio drawing mime and opening performance will mark the start of the event, followed by the main activities such as forsythia seedling planting. Thirty households, recruited through prior registration, will participate in planting seedlings together to join forces in preserving the beautiful Eungbongsan.

Following the first day, the second day will also offer various programs such as the forsythia photo zone, face painting experience programs, and a food market, which will be available throughout the festival period.

On the third day, March 29, a celebration performance will be held along with an essay and drawing contest involving about 300 children and residents.

The district received 200 online pre-registrations for the essay and drawing contests, and an additional 100 participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis at the event site on the day of the festival. The themes will be selected by the Seongdong-gu Writers’ Association and Art Association and announced on-site. Award-winning works will be announced around mid-April.

To ensure smooth festival operations, traffic on the Eungbongsan access routes will be restricted during the event period, so participants are encouraged to use public transportation or walk.

Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “This year’s ‘Eungbongsan Forsythia Festival’ will be extended to ‘Forsythia Week,’ so we hope more people will visit and enjoy the vibrant energy of spring. We will also do our best to ensure safety so that everyone can comfortably enjoy the festival. Going forward, we will continue our meticulous efforts to ensure that Eungbongsan remains a representative landmark of Seongdong-gu and is loved by residents for a long time.”
