Since the launch of the 8th local government administration, Aegibong Peace Ecological Park has shown steady growth. In particular, after reaching an agreement with the military to open at night in 2023, the number of visitors increased by approximately 34.2% compared to 2022, reaching 131,386 visitors. In 2024, the park saw rapid growth again with about a 44.8% increase from the previous year, totaling 190,234 visitors. In February, the cumulative number of visitors surpassed 500,000, and recently, the average monthly visitors have exceeded 32,000, with expectations that over 400,000 tourists will visit annually by 2025.

Having surpassed 500,000 visitors within three years since its opening in 2021, Aegibong Peace Ecological Park will commemorate this achievement through a special event on the 29th, celebrating its growth into a leading global tourism brand of South Korea and sharing the joy with citizens. During the event, the 500,000th visitor will be invited and presented with a commemorative plaque, and there will be a raffle for citizens to receive commemorative goods.

Notably, Aegibong Peace Ecological Park was selected as a “Gyeonggi-do Unique Venue” in 2024, recognized as a distinctive meeting place, and was honored with the Korea Spatial Culture Award. To commemorate this, a plaque unveiling ceremony will be held on-site during the event to widely promote the park’s status.

Additionally, the event will feature popular performances previously held at Aegibong, offering visitors a special emotional experience. These include a collaboration performance by “Poppin Junho and Bitnal Yunmi,” a performance by the Gaehwagi band “Ya, Si, Si,” a traditional magic show by the magic troupe “Dache,” and a fusion gugak (traditional Korean music) performance by the “Seo Ui-cheol Gadan.”

Furthermore, to strengthen the promotion of Aegibong Peace Ecological Park, announcer Kim Jin will be appointed as a promotional ambassador. Kim Jin has hosted major events held at Aegibong and is widely known through broadcasting and various media activities. His familiar image and professionalism are expected to further enhance the park’s recognition.

Meanwhile, a photo exhibition featuring award-winning works from the Korea Tourism Organization’s tourism photo contest and beautiful landscapes of Aegibong Peace Ecological Park will be prepared to provide visitors with a unique visual experience.

A Gimpo City official stated, “Aegibong Peace Ecological Park is recently being planned as a complex cultural space filled with various performances, experiences, and attractions,” adding, “We hope this special cultural event will be a meaningful festival shared with citizens, and we ask for much interest and participation.”
