Kim Dong-yeon, After Solo Protest, "I Do Not Doubt Yoon's Impeachment Acceptance"

Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, once again expressed his firm belief that President Yoon Seok-yeol's impeachment will be upheld. He also expressed regret over the impeachment decision against Prime Minister Han Duck-soo preceding that of President Yoon. Furthermore, he urged the public to lend their support for the early approval of the impeachment.

On the 25th, after holding a one-person picket protest related to ‘Immediate Dismissal of the Leader of the Rebellion’ at Gwanggyo Intersection in Suwon, Governor Kim told reporters, "I have no doubt that President Yoon’s impeachment will be upheld," adding, "The Constitutional Court should approve the impeachment as soon as possible to eliminate political uncertainty and gradually lay the foundation for rebuilding our economy."

He continued, "It is somewhat regrettable that the impeachment decision against Prime Minister Han Duck-soo was made before that of President Yoon," but added, "However, I am reminded that this may have been a measure to stabilize state affairs in preparation for the upcoming approval of Yoon Seok-yeol’s impeachment."

Furthermore, he stated, "Prime Minister Han Duck-soo should engage in high-level diplomacy, whether by phone or in person with President Trump, to overcome the current difficult international trade environment and reassure our people," and urged, "At the same time, through a large supplementary budget and the appointment of a special ambassador with full economic authority, a foundation must be established for the reconstruction of our economy."

He also appealed, "I would appreciate it if people raise their voices to resolve the current political uncertainty and join forces for the early approval of the impeachment."

Meanwhile, regarding recent one-person protests and concerns about the Gyeonggi provincial government, he said, "The Gyeonggi provincial government is being operated flawlessly without any gaps, regardless of my commute protests," and added, "Since I am thoroughly aware of, decide on, and push forward all matters in provincial administration, our residents need not worry."
