City Holds Temporary Meeting
Yeoju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Chung-woo) announced on the 24th that it held the 1st temporary meeting of the 2025 Yeoju City Sports Promotion Council on the 21st at the 4th-floor situation room of Yeoju City Hall, marking the first launch of the Yeoju City Sports Promotion Council to establish major policies in the sports sector.

The Sports Promotion Council, established under Article 5 of the National Sports Promotion Act, plays a role in deliberating on the establishment of sports promotion plans and major matters related to sports promotion.
The Yeoju City Sports Promotion Council (hereinafter referred to as the Council) is composed of 15 members, including ex officio Chairperson Mayor Lee Chung-woo of Yeoju City, Chae Yong-hoon, President of the Yeoju City Sports Association, Ko Kwang-man, Senior Vice President of the Yeoju City Disabled Sports Association, Lee Sang-sook, member of the Yeoju City Council, Kang Bong-jin, President of the Yeoju City Eupmyeondong Sports Federation, as well as sports organizations and sports-related experts.
The term of office for appointed members is two years. The Council holds one regular meeting annually and convenes temporary meetings when there are urgent sports-related issues. It performs deliberation and advisory activities for the establishment of major policies in the sports sector.
This temporary meeting marked the official start of the Council, during which Chae Yong-hoon, President of the Yeoju City Sports Association, was elected as vice-chairperson. The meeting included explanations of major project plans for sports promotion and sports facilities in Yeoju City, followed by a time to share opinions.
Mayor Lee Chung-woo of Yeoju City stated, “Until now, in the process of establishing major policies related to sports, there was a need for a council that could listen to and decide based not only on the city’s position but also on the opinions of various experts in the sports field. I hope the Council will provide many opinions and directions on important matters related to sports.” He added, “Based on the discussions in the Council, we will reflect them in Yeoju City’s sports policies.”
