This tournament was a crucial event with qualification spots for the 2026 Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo Winter Olympics at stake, with eight countries, including the host nation Italy, securing their places in the main event. The world's top female curling athletes participated, delivering high-level matches, drawing the attention of curling fans worldwide to Uijeongbu City.
The tournament featured numerous memorable matches, creating unforgettable memories for global curling fans. In the final, the Canadian team showcased outstanding performance to claim the championship, while the Swiss team finished as runners-up. The South Korean team, 'Team 5G,' made a strong impression by recording five consecutive wins after a thrilling overtime victory against Japan on the opening day. Although they finished in fourth place and narrowly missed out on a medal, they achieved a meaningful result by securing a spot in the 2026 Winter Olympics.
After the tournament's closing, the city hosted a farewell banquet for the participating teams and officials to express gratitude and celebrate the successful event together. The banquet was attended by Mayor Kim Dong-geun, co-chairman of the organizing committee, Han Sang-ho, president of the Korea Curling Federation, officials from the World Curling Federation (WCF), participating teams, and volunteers, fostering a time of harmony.
The farewell banquet began with a traditional Korean fan dance performance by the Uijeongbu City Dance Troupe, followed by a dynamic stage by the world-class b-boy group 'Fusion MC,' creating a rich cultural event. The performances, blending tradition and modernity, left a deep impression on the participating teams and WCF officials, who celebrated the success of the tournament together and promised to reunite at the next championship and the Olympics.
President Han Sang-ho stated, "This tournament will remain a meaningful record in the history of Korean curling," adding, "The passion of the athletes and the support of the citizens combined to make this a successful event. We will continue to do our best for the development of Korean curling."
Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, "It was a great honor to welcome the world's best curling athletes to Uijeongbu," and added, "I hope curling will become an even more beloved sport through this tournament. Congratulations to the teams that secured Olympic qualification, and I sincerely thank all the athletes and officials."
