No Wildfires... Jangseong County Makes All-Out Effort to Prevent Spring Forest Fires

Operation of Wildfire Prevention Headquarters
Strengthening Surveillance, Guidance, and Rapid Response

Jangseong County in South Jeolla Province announced on the 24th that it is strengthening on-site response to prevent wildfires in the spring season. As the risk of wildfires increases due to dry weather, the county has established a Wildfire Prevention Headquarters and has begun proactive prevention activities.

Since January 25, the county has been operating the Wildfire Prevention Headquarters with 67 wildfire suppression personnel and public officials. The headquarters is focusing on field-oriented response, including wildfire prevention guidance, patrols in areas adjacent to forests, on-site dispatch and suppression in case of wildfire occurrence, and post-fire cleanup.

No Wildfires... Jangseong County Makes All-Out Effort to Prevent Spring Forest Fires On the 24th, County Governor Kim Hanjong of Jangseong is inspecting wildfire suppression equipment.

In particular, by utilizing a wildfire situation monitoring system, the county has established a system to monitor wildfire risk areas in real time and respond quickly. In 481 villages within the county, wildfire prevention rules such as prohibiting the possession of flammable materials during hiking and banning the burning of agricultural by-products are repeatedly announced through village broadcasts.

The county is strengthening surveillance activities, especially in areas where large-scale wildfires have occurred in the past, and is also reviewing step-by-step response manuals. In March 2015, more than 3 hectares of forest were damaged by a wildfire near Bultaesan in Jinwon-myeon.

County Governor Kim Hanjong visited the Gosan Reservoir site in Jinwon-myeon on this day and said, "Take thorough precautions, learning from past cases, to protect the lives and property of our residents."
