Campaign and Event to Support Small Business Owners and the Self-Employed
Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Hyungjoon) has launched the 'Busan-Style Good Payment Participation Campaign' in collaboration with local consumer organizations to support small business owners and self-employed individuals.
This campaign, which runs for two weeks from the 24th to April 6th, aims to help local small businesses struggling due to the economic downturn and to stimulate local consumption, thereby revitalizing the economy.
Approximately 25,000 members from eight consumer organizations are participating in the campaign. They will practice good payment in a relay format and encourage others to join. On April 1st, around 100 people will take part in a street campaign in the Seomyeon area, further strengthening local promotional activities.
The participating organizations are as follows: ▲Busan YWCA (President Kim Hyejin) ▲Busan Green Consumers Union (Representatives Jung Changsik, Choi Okju) ▲Busan Consumer Rights Promotion Center (President Son Yoonsook) ▲Busan Consumer Public Interest Network (President Shin Younghee) ▲Busan Consumer Federation (President Kim Hyangran) ▲Central Association for Consumer Education Busan Branch (Branch Manager Lee Jeongsook) ▲Korean Women's Association Busan Branch (Branch Manager Shin Gwangja) ▲Korean Women Consumers Federation Busan Chapter (Chapter President Jo Junghui).
Busan City expects the campaign to boost consumption at local businesses and to expand citizen participation and publicity through the street campaign.
Kim Hyangran, President of the Busan Council of Consumer Organizations, said, "I hope this campaign, promoted in cooperation between Busan City and consumer organizations, will spread a culture of good consumption and create opportunities for mutual growth with small business owners."
Kim Bongcheol, Director of the Busan Digital Economy Bureau, stated, "We hope the Busan-Style Good Payment Movement will take root in the local community and provide practical support to small business owners struggling with the economic downturn," adding, "We will continue to promote various support projects and programs to spread the culture of good payment."
The 'Good Payment Certification Event' to expand citizen participation is also actively underway until April 6th. Citizens wishing to participate can prepay over 100,000 won at a business located in Busan, then upload the payment receipt and business coupon as proof on the city's website, along with a message of support for small business owners.
However, large supermarkets, department stores, online shopping malls, and businesses outside of Busan are excluded from the event. The event draws winners every Wednesday among participants who registered from Monday to Sunday the previous week, awarding Dongbaekjeon policy support funds worth 50,000 won (3 winners), 30,000 won (5 winners), and 10,000 won (70 winners) to a total of 78 people each week.
