The province selected 10 destinations each in 2023 and 2024, and plans to expand the total number to 30 by discovering new wellness tourism sites this year as well.

Through this recruitment, the province aims to discover hidden attractions with outstanding natural scenery and health and wellness programs, thereby strengthening the competitiveness of local tourism.

This year's healing tourism themes are composed of six areas: ▲Nature & Healing ▲Tradition & Lifestyle Culture ▲Healing & Meditation ▲Korean Medicine ▲Beauty & Spa ▲Healing Food. In particular, reflecting expert opinions last year, a new "Healing Food" theme was added to incorporate global and domestic healing tourism trends.

Once selected as a wellness tourism destination, various benefits will be provided, including ▲support for improving tourist reception systems ▲consulting for the advancement and commercialization of healing tourism programs ▲domestic and international promotion and marketing ▲support for linking wellness and medical tourism.

Applications for the new recruitment are open until 6 p.m. on the 8th of next month. Applicants can download the application form from the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Culture and Tourism Foundation website and submit it via email. The selection process will be finalized through a first-round document and presentation evaluation, followed by a second-round on-site evaluation.

Last year, the province developed 26 tourism contents linked to wellness tourism destinations and plans to further expand these efforts. In addition, thanks to active promotional marketing, the number of visitors increased by 117,735 compared to 2023. The province plans to further strengthen support for attracting tourists this year as well.

Lee Jeongseok, Director of Culture, Sports and Tourism for the province, said, "Healing tourism is an important tourism trend that supports the healthy lives of modern people. We will strive to promote wellness tourism destinations and customized healing attractions that reflect the characteristics of each region so that Jeonbuk can establish itself as a leading healing tourism destination."
