The signing ceremony was attended by key officials including Lee Gwangjae, Director of Daedong Hospital, Kim Youngjun, Director of the International Medical Center, Choi Minhwan, Director of the Administrative Planning Department, Park Sanghee, Head of the International Cooperation Team, and Tsagaan-Uvgun Jadambaa, Consul of Mongolia in Busan.
According to the 2023 Immigration and Foreign Policy Statistical Yearbook, there were 54,846 Mongolians residing in Korea as of 2023, mainly for reasons such as construction, manufacturing, domestic work, studying, and marriage migration.
As Mongolians staying long-term in Korea face difficulties accessing medical services due to language barriers, cultural differences, and complicated administrative procedures, Daedong Hospital plans to establish a medical system to address these challenges and provide customized medical services for Mongolians.
Kim Youngjun, Director of the International Medical Center (Orthopedic Specialist) at Daedong Hospital, said, "We hope that this agreement will further improve medical services for Mongolians residing in Korea, and we will continue to enhance the quality of healthcare services through cooperation with various countries, including Mongolia."
Daedong Hospital was selected as one of the 'Top 30 Foreign Patient Attraction Partner Institutions in Busan 2023' and 'Top 20 Mediwell Busan Joint Promotion Partner Institutions in 2024.' Targeting Mongolia as a key market, the hospital is spreading Busan’s excellent medical technology by opening a telemedicine center at the Mongolian Railway Hospital in 2024 and providing training for Mongolian doctors.
