Conservative Commentator Kim Jin Predicts Impeachment of President Yoon
"Says Citizens Will Fill Yongsan-daero if He Returns"
"Police and Security Service Will Cooperate... Military Unlikely to Comply"
Conservative commentator Kim Jin, former editorial writer of JoongAng Ilbo, predicted that even if President Yoon Seok-yeol's impeachment is dismissed, the president would have no choice but to step down within a few days due to citizens' resistance. On the 22nd, in a video posted on his YouTube channel, Kim stated, "The Constitutional Court will unanimously accept the impeachment motion against President Yoon," while also anticipating the situation that would arise if President Yoon were to return to office.

Kim predicted that if President Yoon returns, a "revolution-level popular uprising" would occur. He said, "From Seoul Station to Yongsan, and at times even to the Han River, the crowds will fill Yongsan-daero. Hundreds of thousands will flock to the Yongsan Presidential Office and the presidential residence," adding, "Due to the angry protests of the people, in what would be a Seoul revolution, President Yoon would have no choice but to immediately resign within a few days." He continued, "The resistance forces and far-right protests that occur when President Yoon is impeached are on a completely different level."
He also forecasted that the police and the Presidential Security Service might cooperate with the citizens' resistance. He said, "The police vividly remember how they were used and suffered during the previous martial law, and how the top command was imprisoned, so would they block the protesters?" He added, "Psychologically, many young police officers harbor anger toward Yoon Seok-yeol, so it is more likely they will open the way for the protesters." Furthermore, he noted, "Although arrest warrants for Kim Seong-hoon, Deputy Director of the Security Service, and Lee Kwang-woo, Head of the Security Headquarters, were dismissed, they have witnessed firsthand how they are being prosecuted. Even if orders were given to shoot to stop the protesters, would they obey such orders?"
Regarding the possibility of a "second martial law," he assessed it as realistically difficult. He said, "(President Yoon) might consider declaring martial law again, but this time, even seeking cooperation from Cabinet members could face obstacles," adding, "Even if martial law is declared, the military, having experienced such an absurd precedent, is unlikely to comply."
Kim said, "Everything is impossible," and "Ultimately, President Yoon will have no choice but to be dragged down or immediately resign." He added, "I feel firsthand the public's anger toward the martial law imposed by President Yoon and the cowardly, cunning, and evil behavior he showed afterward, as well as the level of public sentiment and popular will," and continued, "There will be countless people who throw themselves into resistance, participating in rallies and protests against the insane act of dismissing the impeachment motion against a president who committed such acts and reinstating him."
