Civic organizations and conservative parties in Gwangju held a mass rally opposing the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-yeol, claiming, "It is the Democratic Party that has paralyzed the functions of the government, and the left-wing judicial cartel is collapsing."

The "Gwangju Conservative Parties and Civic Organizations Joint Conference," which includes the People Power Party Gwangju City Committee and other conservative groups, held the "Gwangju-Jeonnam Patriotic Citizens' Mass Rally Against Presidential Impeachment" at Antioch Church in Seo-gu, Gwangju, on the afternoon of the 23rd.

About 500 people, including history lecturer Jeon Hangil, People Power Party lawmaker Yoon Sanghyun, university students, and church members, participated in the rally.

The event, which began in the form of a worship service inside the church, featured speakers taking the stage in turn to voice their support for President Yoon or opposition to his impeachment.

Yoon Sanghyun stated, "I have studied insurrection myself. Insurrection means starting a riot with the purpose of disrupting the constitutional order, but with more than two years left in his term, would the President have started a riot, realistically speaking?" He continued, "Disrupting the constitutional order can be seen as making it impossible to exercise authority. Upon review, this would mean permanently closing the National Assembly or disabling its functions for a considerable period. But since the National Assembly's functions were restored within two hours, it cannot be considered that its functions were eliminated for a significant period."

He added, "The President likely wanted to inform the public that the Democratic Party is paralyzing the government by legislative rampage and repeated impeachments," and said, "Such actions by the Democratic Party are, in effect, acts of insurrection."

Jeon Hangil said, "I decided to visit after Pastor Park Youngwoo of Antioch Church requested that I make efforts for people in their 20s, 30s, and university students," and argued, "There are even polls showing President Yoon's approval rating at 50% in Gwangju. The fiction created by the Democratic Party, left-wing media, and judicial cartel is gradually collapsing."

He continued, "Mayor Kang Gijeong criticized me as far-right, but at the February rally, I was the first on stage to say, 'I love Gwangju.' The May 18 Democratization Movement made a great contribution to Korea's democratization, and I will not forget the sacrifice and dedication involved."

He added, "I have set everything aside to reveal the truth," and emphasized, "Falsehood cannot defeat truth. I asked my friends and family who criticized me to wait, and in fact, public opinion is changing."
