Incheon Airport Joins 'Airport AI Alliance' as Asia's First Member

Recognized for Innovative Achievements in AI Field, Invited to Join

Incheon International Airport has become the first airport in Asia to join the 'Airport Artificial Intelligence (AI) Alliance (AAA)'.

According to Incheon International Airport Corporation on the 23rd, Incheon Airport was officially admitted to the AAA at the 'AAA Summit' held in Washington D.C., USA, on the 19th, in recognition of its innovative achievements in the AI field. It is the first Asian airport and the second non-American airport to join after Germany's Fraport.


Established last year, the AAA is a global collaborative body for airport AI innovation, led by major airports such as Atlanta Airport and Fraport, as well as big tech companies including Amazon, Microsoft, and NVIDIA. It is driving innovation and development in the airport industry in the AI era, focusing on AI-based airport operation optimization and sustainability enhancement.


The AAA emphasized that Incheon Airport has established itself as a strategic partner leading the future of the global airport industry in the AI era and requested active participation in the airport AI innovation sector.


Lee Hak-jae, President of Incheon International Airport Corporation, participated as a keynote speaker at the AAA Summit, presenting on the strategic role and future vision of AI in the airport and aviation industry. He introduced the 'Incheon Airport 4.0' vision, which includes plans for creating an AI-based industrial ecosystem through expanding AI infrastructure, revitalizing research and development (R&D), and establishing a global business network, going beyond simple AI-driven airport operation innovation.


President Lee also visited the headquarters of Amazon Web Services (AWS) upon a special invitation from AWS. He listened to various AI technology cases applied in the global aviation industry from AWS and engaged in in-depth discussions on the airport corporation’s ongoing digital transformation projects across all airport operations and the integration of AI technologies within the airport industry.


President Lee said, "This AAA membership and participation in the summit is a meaningful achievement that globally recognizes Incheon Airport’s AI innovation efforts. Moving forward, we plan to strengthen cooperative relationships with major airports and accelerate efforts to enhance future competitiveness by establishing an aviation AI innovation hub and industrial ecosystem, aiming to become 'Incheon Airport that Changes the World'."
