"I Don't Even Want to Contribute a Thousand Won to Lee Jae-myung's Lies"… Former Moon Administration Official Reveals Reason for Leaving Party

Kim Seon, Former Blue House Digital Communication Center Officer, Leaves Party
Says Lee Jaemyung Is the Reason for His Withdrawal

Kim Seon, a former administrative officer at the Blue House Digital Communication Center during the Moon Jae-in administration who was in charge of Facebook live broadcasts, revealed that the reason for his withdrawal from the party was due to Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea.

"I Don't Even Want to Contribute a Thousand Won to Lee Jae-myung's Lies"… Former Moon Administration Official Reveals Reason for Leaving Party Kim Seon, former administrative officer of the Blue House Digital Communication Center. Capture from the Moon Jae-in administration Blue House YouTube channel.

On the 19th, Kim posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account, "On the day Lee's 'Maebul Show' remark came out, the insane malice and lies made my head feel like it was on fire, and I stayed up all night," adding, "Some might find it strange that I maintained my party membership until now, but anyway, I have withdrawn."

He said, "Although I held a minor position in the previous government, I thought that if by some miracle the Democratic Party recovered, someone like me maintaining party membership could serve as a small bridge." However, he reflected, "I'm not a great person to play any bridge role, nor am I into politics. The current status of being a Democratic Party member is not worth quietly enduring inner turmoil for," and added, "In the end, it was probably due to the lingering attachment to the shell called 'Democratic Party,' hoping it wouldn't completely collapse like that."

Kim stated, "There was no attachment, and I maintained the membership just in case, really just in case, it might be needed later," and said, "When asked to write the reason for withdrawal, I wrote, 'Because I don't even want to contribute a thousand won to the moon for Lee Jae-myung's sins and lies.'"

On the 5th, Lee appeared on the YouTube broadcast Maebul Show and said regarding the approval of the arrest motion against him in the 21st National Assembly, "Looking at what the prosecution did during the investigation and the movements within the party at the time, it seems like it was all a collusion between some within the party and the prosecution."

At that time, the arrest motion against Lee was approved with 149 votes in favor, 136 against, 6 abstentions, and 4 invalid votes out of 295 votes cast. This was one vote more than the majority of the members present (148 votes), which is the quorum for the resolution. Assuming that 120 votes in favor came from the People Power Party (110 members), the Justice Party (6 members), Transition Korea (1 member), Hope of Korea (1 member), and two independent members formerly of the People Power Party, it means that 29 members from the Democratic Party and Democratic-leaning independents voted in favor. This was the first time in constitutional history that an arrest motion against the leader of the main opposition party was approved.

Progressive Democratic Party lawmakers fiercely criticized, saying, "At a time when party unity is important, this is dividing the Democratic Party."

Kim also strongly criticized Lee's remark directed at Choi Sang-mok, Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, saying, "Be careful as you could be arrested as a crime scene offender for dereliction of duty." Targeting the Democratic Party's official social media account that posted the remark, Kim said, "A party that posts such terrible words on its official account," and sharply criticized, "The ruins of the Democratic Party are tragic."
