"An Intention to Sever the Nation Beyond Intimidating Choi"
Kwon Seong-dong, floor leader of the People Power Party, criticized the five opposition parties including the Democratic Party, who jointly proposed an impeachment motion against Choi Sang-mok, Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, on the 21st, calling it "terrorism that destroys state affairs."
At a press conference held at the National Assembly on the same day, Floor Leader Kwon said, "Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party, has finally proposed the 30th impeachment motion," and condemned, "This is no different from an intention to cut off the entire country beyond intimidation against Acting Prime Minister Choi personally."
Floor Leader Kwon stated, "Even though it is obvious that Han Duck-soo will return next Monday, insisting on impeaching the Deputy Prime Minister for Economy is an emotional retaliation that has lost its purpose," and denounced, "They intend to thoroughly destroy state affairs by impeaching Choi Sang-mok, the economic control tower."
He also took a jab at the Democratic Party for filing a complaint against Acting Prime Minister Choi. On the same day, the Democratic Party reported him to the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) on charges of violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Specific Crimes and the Act on the Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Specific Economic Crimes. Floor Leader Kwon said, "It is deplorable that they dragged up the Mir Foundation suspicions from 10 years ago, which had been cleared of charges, to make a forced accusation," and criticized, "This is a petty and despicable act that even local thugs would not do."
He added, "As numerous procedural issues arose during the presidential impeachment trial, they are trying to overturn the situation by inserting Ma Eun-hyuk, a nominee for Constitutional Court Justice, into the Constitutional Court," and claimed, "Furthermore, they are trying to preemptively build a justification for Lee Jae-myung himself to reject the second trial verdict and take to asphalt protests."
Meanwhile, on the 100th day since his inauguration as floor leader, Kwon unveiled the 'Lee Jae-myung Collection of Outrageous Remarks' published by the People Power Party. He explained, "It is insufficient to just chase after the hypocritical words and political behavior that Leader Lee has accumulated," and said, "Now, it is necessary for everyone to accurately record each of his remarks and clearly reveal the reality of deceiving and betraying the people."
He continued, "Examining a politician's words and actions is an important criterion to predict the direction of the country he wants to build," and said, "Although Lee's remarks are scattered individually, when gathered together, they form an extremely dangerous picture that shakes the foundation of the Republic of Korea."
