Kim Hongsoo, Jo Eunseol, and Oh Songhwa Recognized
Commended by Gwangju Mayor and Gwangsan Fire Station Chief

The Department of Fire Administration at Honam University (headed by Noh Seon-gyun) announced on the 21st that Kim Hongsoo, Jo Eunseol, and Oh Songhwa, members of the University Student Specialized Volunteer Fire Brigade, were selected as outstanding members at the 4th Volunteer Fire Brigade Day and received commendations.
At the event held on the 3rd floor of Gwangju City Hall on the 19th, Kim Hongsoo, the student leader, received a commendation from the Mayor of Gwangju, Jo Eunseol, the administrative team leader, received a commendation from the Chief of Gwangsan Fire Station, and Oh Songhwa, the response team leader, received a commendation from the Mayor of Gwangsan District.
Kim Hongsoo served as the student leader for the 6th (2024) and 7th (2025) terms, actively participating in all activities of the University Student Specialized Volunteer Fire Brigade and contributing to the establishment and promotion of fire safety culture in Gwangju. He was highly praised for his active involvement in minimizing damage at disaster sites, including the Hanam Industrial Complex fire in June last year, support activities at the Jeju aircraft accident site in December of the same year, and firefighting efforts at Songjeong Market in Gwangju in February this year.
Jo Eunseol, as the administrative team leader, not only contributed to the smooth operation of the University Student Specialized Volunteer Fire Brigade for four years but also set a record as the first in the history of Honam University's Volunteer Fire Brigade to participate consistently for four years. Her diligence and sincerity in participation became a model for other members.
Oh Songhwa, as the response team leader, was responsible for overseeing various field activities and necessary support for on-site response. In addition to on-site response activities, she recorded the situations through videos and photos, promoting and publicizing the activities of the University Student Specialized Volunteer Fire Brigade both internally and externally.
Professor Kang Woongil, who has overseen the University Student Specialized Volunteer Fire Brigade, said, "I am pleased that our members receive commendations from local institution heads every year on this meaningful day related to firefighting," and added, "We will continue to actively cooperate with the Gwangju Fire Safety Headquarters, Gwangsan Fire Station, and Gwangsan District Office to further contribute to the establishment and promotion of a local safety culture."
