Government Changes Emergency Medical Fund Operation Plan

The government announced on the 21st that it will open applications for training candidates to obtain the 'Traumatology Subspecialist' certification for two weeks from the 24th of this month to the 4th of next month.

This project supports training for 'Traumatology Subspecialists' to cultivate professionals dedicated to severe trauma patients. Although the project budget was initially not included this year, 868 million KRW was secured through changes in the emergency medical fund operation plan, allowing the project to continue.

The government will provide a total of 124 million KRW per person annually, including 88 million KRW for trainee salaries and 36 million KRW for education expenses.

In particular, this year, the number of supported traumatology trainees will be expanded from 5 to 7, and 12 regional trauma centers have been added to the hospitals eligible for training to increase the number of applicants. The eligible specialties have also been increased to six by adding Emergency Medicine and Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine.

A government official stated, "We will continue to support the provision of an environment where trainees can receive high-quality training by treating various trauma patients at medical institutions equipped with dedicated trauma intensive care beds," and added, "We ask for the active participation of dedicated doctors to overcome the shortage of specialists in the severe trauma field."

Specialists wishing to apply for traumatology subspecialist training support should submit their application to the Ministry of Health and Welfare by the 4th of next month.
