Bookstore brand Kyobo Book Centre announced on the 21st that it has appointed Heo Jeong-do, CEO of KCA Insurance Adjustment, as its new CEO.
This is the second time Heo has taken the helm at Kyobo Book Centre. Previously, he served as CEO from 2012 to 2016, during which he improved Kyobo Book Centre's management situation and led growth and change through initiatives such as the renewal of the Gwanghwamun branch. He introduced the country's first e-book subscription service, ‘sam’, and achieved the highest profit performance in Kyobo Book Centre's history during his tenure.
In light of increasing management risks in the publishing industry, such as the bankruptcy of wholesale companies, the decision to reappoint an experienced leader who has delivered management results is interpreted as a strategy to overcome uncertainty. Heo stated that he plans to strengthen the core competitiveness of both online and offline channels and pursue various growth strategies to build a new future for Kyobo Book Centre.
A Kyobo Book Centre official said, "CEO Heo Jeong-do is the right person to further strengthen Kyobo Book Centre's competitiveness amid the changing publishing environment," adding, "We expect him to realize sustainable growth based on customer-centered innovation and management stability."
