Geumcheon-gu Secures 80 Million Won for Care SOS Service Contest... Strengthening Resident Care with Home Rehabilitation Exercise

Selected for Autonomous District Specialized Care SOS Service Contest, Securing 80 Million KRW
Specialized 'Visiting Rehabilitation Exercise' Service for Households in Care Crisis Requiring Rehabilitation

Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it will strengthen support for ‘Visiting Rehabilitation Exercise’ using the 80 million KRW budget secured after being selected for the ‘2025 Autonomous District Specialized Care SOS Service Contest’ hosted by Seoul City.

‘Visiting Rehabilitation Exercise’ is a service that provides rehabilitation exercise services by directly visiting households in the recovery phase who need rehabilitation due to post-surgery discharge, neurological and musculoskeletal diseases, and other conditions.

Nursing care managers in each neighborhood directly assess the applicant’s health status and then coordinate with specialized rehabilitation institutions to support a total of 10 visits per person for rehabilitation exercises. The program includes physical function enhancement, balance training, and exercise education.

The service targets Geumcheon-gu residents in urgent need of care, and those with an income at or below 100% of the median income who are using the Care SOS service will receive full coverage of service costs. After recruiting service providers in March and April, the service is scheduled to be fully implemented. Residents who wish to use the service can apply at their local neighborhood community center.

A district official stated, “The ‘Visiting Rehabilitation Exercise’ service will help strengthen the muscle power and relieve pain of the recipients, and provide customized exercise education that can be done in daily life to help form a consistent exercise habit.” They added, “Since service providers visit homes directly, the burden of visiting rehabilitation hospitals for the elderly and those with mobility difficulties is expected to decrease.”

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “We plan to further strengthen care services for residents suddenly facing care crises using the budget secured through the contest.” He added, “We will continue to expand customized care services for residents in need.”

‘Care SOS’ is a service that supports residents who urgently need care due to sudden illness, accidents, post-surgery discharge, or absence of caregivers, providing five major services: ▲temporary home care ▲short-term facilities ▲accompaniment support ▲meal delivery ▲housing convenience.

Last year, the district provided seasonal items for extreme heat and cold, special holiday meals, and nutritional liquid diets as a specialized project for recipients, and plans to provide seasonal items again this year.
