Dongjak District Residents' University 'Dong Campus' Opens... Pilot Operation in 6 Neighborhoods

Dongjak-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Il-ha) announced on the 21st that it will officially operate the Dongjak-gu Residents' University "Dong Campus" to provide residents with broad learning opportunities.

With the amendment of the Lifelong Education Act mandating the operation of Dong Lifelong Learning Centers, the district has designated easily accessible community service centers as bases and manages them in the form of campuses linked with the Dongjak-gu education brand, "Dongjak-gu Residents' University."

In the first half of the year, it will be piloted in six neighborhoods and plans to expand to all neighborhoods in the second half. The first semester of the "Dong Campus" consists of four departments and six courses, following the same academic schedule as Dongjak-gu Residents' University.

Based on educational demand surveys by neighborhood, courses differentiated from existing community center programs have been prepared, reflecting the characteristics of each neighborhood, such as basic coding courses and easy-to-understand real estate investment techniques. The Dong Campus will support "Learning Managers," who serve as learning partners responsible for assisting lectures, managing study spaces, and counseling students.

Mayor Park Il-ha said, "We introduced the Dong Campus so that residents can comfortably receive quality education near their homes," and added, "We will continue to discover and operate diverse classes that meet the learning needs of local residents."
