Asan Mayor Candidate Jeon Mankwon: "We Cannot Entrust the Future to Those Who Only Seek Positions"

Candidate Jeon Mankwon is speaking at the launch event on the 20th.

Jeon Mankwon, the People Power Party candidate running in the upcoming by-election for Asan Mayor in South Chungcheong Province on the 2nd of next month, asserted on the 20th, "We cannot entrust the future to those who are only after positions."

On this day, he held a campaign launch event at Onyang Oncheon Station Square, where he criticized the Democratic Party and appealed for support.

Jeon stated, "We are currently fighting a life-or-death battle," adding, "This election will be an opportunity to defend liberal democracy and shape the future of Asan."

He then targeted Democratic Party candidate Oh Sehyun, saying, "Corruption and suspicions remain unresolved," and raised his voice, "We cannot entrust Asan's future to someone who is only after personal gain."

He continued, "The Democratic Party is ruining the government. If both the National Assembly member and the mayor are from the Democratic Party, what will happen to Asan's future?" He added, "I will be a mayor who shows results through actions, not words. I ask all citizens to be my strong supporters," appealing for support.

Prior to this, National Assembly members Yoon Sanghyun and Sung Iljong, as well as Kim Youngseok, chairman of the South Chungcheong Provincial Party, came out to support him.

Yoon Sanghyun said, "I've known Jeon for a long time, and he is a person with the virtues of goodwill, passion, and trustworthiness," adding, "All Asan citizens, unanimously, recommend Jeon Mankwon as the candidate."

Sung Iljong referred to the mad cow disease crisis under the Lee Myungbak administration, the THAAD issue under the Park Geunhye administration, and the Fukushima contaminated water issue under the Yoon Sukyeol administration, criticizing, "(The Democratic Party) is a force that incites as if the people are dying, and these people should not be called progressives."

He continued, "Jeon Mankwon's victory will save the Republic of Korea and set the country right, while also judging the malicious leftists," and promised, "I will establish a T/F team in the central party for Jeon Mankwon and Asan City."

Kim Youngseok also poured out criticism against the Democratic Party. He said, "How can someone running for mayor engage in one-room rental business like a developer and include land with personal ties in development plans?" He emphasized, "I think the bottom of Asan reeks. Candidate Jeon is clean and upright and will change Asan."

Meanwhile, the campaign launch event was attended by these figures as well as Lee Junbae, chairman of the Sejong City Party, Hong Sunghyun, chairman of the South Chungcheong Provincial Council, city and provincial council members, and supporters.

National Assembly members Jang Donghyuk and Kang Seunggyu, who were scheduled to attend, were absent due to parliamentary commitments, while Na Kyungwon will only participate in the street campaign.
