Sharing Key Win-Win Cooperation Activities with the Local Community from January to March This Year
Wolsong Headquarters of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) held the '2025 1st Wolsong Headquarters Nuclear Communication Committee' meeting on the 19th.
The Nuclear Communication Committee consists of a total of 14 members, including three internal members led by Director Jung Wonho, as well as Gyeongju City Council members, local resident representatives, and regional experts.
Wolsong Headquarters of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power held the '2025 1st Wolsong Headquarters Nuclear Power Communication Committee' on the 19th.
This meeting provided an opportunity to share and discuss four main agenda items from the key win-win cooperation activities carried out between January and March: ▲ Development of the 'Easy-to-Understand Radiation Calculator' app that compares radiation levels generated by nuclear power plants ▲ Signing of the 2nd adjacent commercial district revitalization support agreement for 2025 ▲ Implementation of the 2025 resident health checkup and medical expense support project for vulnerable groups ▲ Results of the Gyeongju public review of the draft RER for the continued operation of Wolsong Units 2, 3, and 4.
The development of the 'Easy-to-Understand Radiation Calculator' app received significant attention from the attending committee members.
This app improves upon the use of technical units such as 'microsievert' and 'becquerel,' which are difficult for the general public to relate to, by converting radiation doses into familiar real-life examples such as bananas, X-ray scans, and airplane flights, making the information easier to understand.
It is also expected to greatly help alleviate vague anxiety about radiation among residents living near nuclear power plants.
After the app is completed, Wolsong Headquarters plans to distribute it nationwide for free use by the public, following company-wide expansion within KHNP.
Director Jung Wonho stated, "We plan to continue close communication with committee members and local residents this year as well, so we ask for your interest and cooperation."
