at Bansongkeun Market

The 'Digital Traditional Market' project, which aims to modernize traditional markets with the latest distribution environment, is being attempted in Busan.

On the afternoon of the 20th at 2:50 p.m., Busan Mayor Park Hyungjoon announced that he held a meeting at Bansongkeun Market with the Ministry of Science and ICT (Minister Yoo Sangim), Busan Regional Office of SMEs and Startups, Kakao, and the market merchants association to discuss support measures for the digital transformation of traditional markets.

On this day, Mayor Park Hyungjoon, Minister Yoo Sangim, Kang Giseong, Head of the Busan Regional Office of SMEs and Startups, as well as representatives from Kakao and the market merchants association attended the meeting to discuss digital transformation and cooperation measures to strengthen the competitiveness of traditional markets.

Busan City is promoting various projects, including the 'Digital Traditional Market Promotion Project,' to pursue the sustainable growth of traditional markets. Comprehensive support is being provided to help traditional markets adapt to the changing distribution environment and grow.

Through such policy support, Bansongkeun Market was selected last year for the '2024-2025 Cultural Tourism Market Promotion Project' and is actively promoting digital transformation by introducing a point accumulation system and strengthening online marketing.

In addition, Bansongkeun Market maximized synergy by linking with Kakao's 'Project Regulars' business support, which is being promoted as a win-win cooperation between platform companies and small business owners.

This project is a digital transformation support initiative that aims to revitalize local commercial districts and traditional markets by providing digital education for small business owners and supporting the expansion of regular customers through promotional activities based on online channels.

Once this year's project is completed, there are plans to actively pursue the 'Digital Traditional Market Promotion Project' next year to support the expansion of online sales channels for traditional market merchants.

On this day, Mayor Park visited several stores in Bansongkeun Market with Minister Yoo Sangim and others, exchanging opinions with merchants on the support and improvements needed in the digital transformation process.

Mayor Park encouraged merchants struggling with the economic downturn and requested active interest and cooperation so that the city's support projects can lead to strengthening the competitiveness of traditional markets.

He also checked the progress of the arcade renovation project being promoted as part of the facility modernization efforts at Bansongkeun Market.

This project, promoted by the city to improve the environment of traditional markets and enhance visitor convenience, has a total budget of 2.2 billion KRW and has been underway from last year to this year.

Busan Mayor Park Hyungjoon emphasized, "Introducing digital technology is essential for traditional markets to adapt to changing consumer trends and strengthen their competitiveness, and public-private cooperation is important for this." He added, "We will further expand support for digital transformation projects so that traditional market merchants can seek new growth opportunities."
