Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province (Governor Jeon Jin-seon) announced on the 20th that on the 19th, it held a ‘Village Chief Job Training’ at the multipurpose room of Yangpyeong Library, attended by about 80 people including new village chiefs, the head of the village chiefs’ council, the council’s secretary-general, and deputy eup/myeon chiefs. The training focused on enhancing the sense of belonging and adaptability as village chiefs and establishing the mindset regarding the roles and responsibilities of village chiefs.

The training began with encouragement and requests from Jeon Jin-seon, Governor of Yangpyeong-gun, followed by explanations of major department tasks. Then, centered on the ‘Village Chief Work Manual’ revised and supplemented this year by Park Dong-ju, head of the General Affairs Team, education was provided on the village chief system and roles, major work processing procedures, and guidelines for operating village autonomy regulations.
Since the launch of the 8th popularly elected administration, Yangpyeong-gun has been producing the ‘Village Chief Work Manual,’ a comprehensive guide that anyone can easily learn the duties of village chiefs, starting in 2023, and conducting ‘Village Chief Job Training.’ Furthermore, the manual and training are continuously revised and supplemented every year to improve completeness, making ongoing efforts to provide guidance for village chiefs.
In particular, this year, heads of major departments that perform tasks requiring active cooperation from village chiefs attended to explain related matters and promote the latest administrative information. Through this, village chiefs were able to improve practical skills necessary to solve various problems they face in the field.
Jeon Jin-seon, Governor of Yangpyeong-gun, stated, “To promptly and efficiently resolve various issues closely related to the lives of residents, the active participation and cooperation of village chiefs are essential.” He added, “Village chiefs play an important intermediary role connecting residents and Yangpyeong County Office. I hope they faithfully perform this role by accurately conveying residents’ voices from the field and playing a key role in smoothly implementing the county’s policies and administration.”
