The Seoul Western District Court Criminal Division 5 (Presiding Judge Kim Hyung-seok) held the first trial session at 11:10 a.m. on the 20th for Moon, who is charged with violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving) and the Public Hygiene Management Act.

The prosecution stated the reasons for the sentence request, saying, "Considering the high blood alcohol level at the time of drunk driving, the fact that the defendant caused a traffic accident involving personal injury and property damage due to drunk driving, and the high amount of approximately 136 million won earned over about five years in relation to the violation of the Public Hygiene Management Act."

Moon's defense attorney said, "The defendant admits all the charges and is deeply remorseful," adding, "They have amicably settled with the victim, who also expressed that they do not wish for punishment."

Moon, who appeared in court in person that day, said, "I fully admit to the mistakes I have made and am deeply remorseful," and added, "I sincerely apologize to the victim and pledge never to repeat the same mistakes, asking for leniency."

Moon is accused of driving under the influence on October 5 last year in front of the Hamilton Hotel in Itaewon, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and colliding with a taxi that was following while changing lanes (violation of the Road Traffic Act for drunk driving). At the time of the accident, Moon's blood alcohol concentration was 0.149%, exceeding the license cancellation standard of 0.08%.

Moon is also charged with operating illegal lodging businesses without registration at an officetel in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, a villa in Yangpyeong-dong, and a detached house in Hallim-eup, Jeju City.

The first trial verdict for Moon is scheduled for the 17th of next month.
