Reference to Letters from KAMC and Seoul National University Medical School Deans
Chairman Kim: "Communication to Restore Trust Between Government and Medical Community Has Begun"
Kim Sang-hoon, the Policy Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, urged on the 20th, "To our medical students who will continue the world-class K-medical legacy, please return to school."
Chairman Kim said at the emergency committee meeting held at the National Assembly that morning, "All citizens are eagerly awaiting the return of Korea's proud medical students to school."
Referring to the letter sent the previous day by the Korean Association of Medical Colleges (KAMC), a gathering of medical school deans, appealing for the nationwide return of medical students, Chairman Kim said, "'(KAMC) is well aware that the students' demands have not been fully accepted,' and 'the students have expressed their opinions through actions sufficiently so far, and if this continues longer, irreversible damage is feared,'" adding, "He appealed to the medical students who continue their strike in opposition to the government's medical reform policy to return to their studies."

He also mentioned that the Seoul National University College of Medicine deans posted a letter on the medical school website the previous day, stating, "We have prepared the curriculum for the premedical and medical courses so that the education of returning students can proceed without disruption, and emphasized that there will be no disadvantages in grade processing or credit awarding."
Chairman Kim also emphasized that the party and government will do their best for the return of medical students. He said, "The party and government, assuming all students return by the end of March, have respected the autonomy of university presidents regarding the 2026 academic year admission quota and accepted the medical community's request to keep the 2026 medical school quota at 3,058 without increase," adding, "The most regrettable aspect observed during the ongoing medical-government conflict over the past year is the distrust between the government and the medical community."
He continued, "However, since the government's announcement of zero increase in the 2026 medical school admission quota, communication to restore trust between the government and the medical community has also begun in earnest," and urged the students once again to return as "March is now entering its late days."
