According to Gyeonggi Province on the 20th, this project, which was first implemented nationwide in 2021, initially supported delivery workers and has now expanded its coverage to include designated driver workers and freight truck owners. Last year, a total of 4,804 cases of industrial accident insurance premiums were supported, contributing to the protection of workers' rights.

This year, applicants will be recruited in June, and the support targets remain the same as last year: delivery workers, designated driver workers, and freight truck owners. They can receive support for 80% of the industrial accident insurance premiums they paid, up to a maximum of 14,713 KRW per month, for nine months (from October 2024 to June 2025).

To apply, applicants need to submit a resident registration certificate and a business registration certificate to verify their residence and workplace information. Freight truck owners must also submit documents such as a vehicle registration certificate to confirm whether the vehicle is for commercial use.

Starting this year, the Ministry of Employment and Labor has abolished the reduction criteria (30-50% reduction) for industrial accident insurance premiums for labor providers, including platform workers, which is expected to increase the economic burden on workers. In response, the province plans to alleviate their financial difficulties and create a stable workplace through this project.

Jo Sang-gi, Director of Labor Rights at Gyeonggi Province, stated, “Unlike regular workers, platform workers have to bear 50% of the industrial accident insurance premiums themselves, so we hope this will provide practical help.” He added, “We will continue to prepare support measures to protect the safety and rights of platform workers.”
