Pocheon City, 38 Civilians Injured and 251 Livestock Dead in Friendly Fire Incident

Pocheon City Completes First Damage Assessment
Property Damage Includes 196 Buildings and 16 Vehicles, Totaling 212 Cases

Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 19th that, as of the 18th, a preliminary survey of damages related to the accidental bombing by an Air Force fighter jet in Nogok-ri, Idong-myeon, which occurred on the 6th, has identified a total of 38 civilian casualties.

Among the 38 civilian injured, 2 are seriously injured and 36 have minor injuries, with 6 of them currently hospitalized and receiving treatment at the Armed Forces Capital Hospital. Including 14 injured military personnel, the total number of injured reaches 52.


Property damage includes 196 buildings (2 completely destroyed, 194 partially damaged) and 16 vehicles. Nearby condos and motels are housing 12 people from 7 households, and 7 people from 2 households are long-term residents in military housing.


Additionally, livestock losses have been tallied at a total of 251 animals (63 cattle, 186 pigs, and 2 goats).


Gyeonggi Province and Pocheon City are continuously conducting safety inspections in the affected area.


Pocheon City plans to carry out detailed safety inspections on buildings with significant damage and is currently consulting with Gyeonggi Province, military authorities, and residents.


A Pocheon City official stated, "Although the damage survey led by the city has been completed, we will continue to accept damage reports due to issues such as compensation."
