Jeollanam-do announced on the 18th that two additional cases of foot-and-mouth disease were confirmed in Yeongam.


The affected farms are located 900 meters from the initial outbreak site and 2.7 kilometers from the third outbreak site, respectively.


The farm owners reported suspicious symptoms, and after a detailed inspection, the cases were confirmed positive. Only the infected animals on the two farms will be selectively culled.


On the morning of the 19th, Jeollanam-do will hold an emergency video conference at the disaster situation room to review measures to prevent the spread of foot-and-mouth disease, discuss the current situation of additional outbreaks, quarantine management, and vaccination status.


Park Hyunsik, Director of the Jeollanam-do Agriculture, Livestock and Food Bureau, emphasized, "To prevent further spread, complete vaccinations quickly and disinfect the farms daily," and requested, "If symptoms such as excessive salivation, runny nose, or loss of appetite are observed, please report them immediately to the quarantine authorities."


As of 8 a.m. on the 19th, there have been a total of 10 cases of foot-and-mouth disease: 9 in Yeongam and 1 in Muan.
