Naju City to Intensively Control Mosquito Larvae Until April

Proactive Measures for Infectious Disease Prevention

Naju Public Health Center has launched a proactive pest control campaign to prevent infectious diseases transmitted by overwintering mosquitoes and other sanitary pests during the thawing season and to protect the health of citizens.

The city recently conducted a simultaneous disinfection campaign in 20 towns and districts and has designated the period from this month to April as the intensive disinfection period for the thawing season. During this time, the health center will organize disinfection teams and voluntary pest control squads in each town and district to carry out disinfection at least three times.

The main targets for disinfection are places with a high risk of infectious diseases, such as building basements and septic tanks where mosquitoes are likely to breed, as well as landfill sites, sewage and wastewater treatment plants, and densely populated areas.

In February, larval control disinfection was also conducted at 647 locations, including senior centers and lake parks.

The thawing season is a time when pests have weakened resistance, so intensive control at the larval stage can effectively reduce the number of adult pests in the summer. Especially as climate change accelerates the start of pest activity, the need for early disinfection has become even more important.
