Analysis of the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act, Conflict of Interest Prevention Act,
and Case Studies on the Code of Conduct for Local Council Members
Geochang County Council in Gyeongnam announced on the 19th that it held the '2025 On-site Local Council Integrity Workshop' for its council members and council office staff.
This workshop is a program jointly promoted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, designed to enhance the integrity of local councils and strengthen trustworthy legislative activities.
Joo Yangsun, CEO of the Integrity and Fairness Research Center, was invited to give a lecture on key issues that public officials must be aware of, including the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act, the Conflict of Interest Prevention Act, and a detailed case analysis of the Code of Conduct for Local Council Members.
In particular, the workshop featured an 'Integrity Pledge Ceremony,' where all attendees gathered to commit to practicing integrity. Lee Jaewoon, Chairperson of Geochang County Council, led the pledge as a representative, vowing to faithfully fulfill his ethical duties as a public official. All participants resolved to do their utmost to perform their duties fairly and transparently.
Chairperson Lee emphasized, "Integrity is one of the most important virtues a public official must possess. We will continue to strive to create a local council trusted by residents."
Meanwhile, Geochang County Council plans to continue various efforts to realize an honest public service society, taking this workshop as an opportunity.
