"Grab It As Soon As You See It" Flood of Reviews... Daiso's Another 'Sold-Out Frenzy' Item [Review]

Dinto Caused a 'Sold-Out Frenzy' at Daiso in January
Ranked Among Top New Products on Daiso Mall
Compact and Portable Size is a Plus... Powder Fallout is a Drawback

A new item that caused another 'sold-out frenzy' has appeared at Daiso, the new battleground for beauty brands. The star is the color cosmetics vegan brand 'Dinto.' Following the sold-out lip tint launched earlier this year, it has recently continued its success with an eye palette. Beauty communities are flooded with reviews from beauty enthusiasts, such as "If you see it at Daiso, you have to grab it immediately" and "A Daiso product you must get right now."

According to Daiso Mall, among the new product rankings in the beauty and hygiene category, the 'Prelude Dinto Nostalgia Eye Palette' ranked 2nd, 3rd, 7th, and 11th by color. Consumer clicks reached up to 140,000. As more brands launch beauty products through Daiso, competition to enter the rankings is fierce, but the popularity of this product is at a unique level.

This product was introduced in Daiso's exclusive line 'Prelude Dinto' by the vegan beauty brand Dinto. Starting from January 17th with the online mall, Dinto launched lip tints, powders, eyeliners, brow pencils, foundations, and eye palettes, recording a complete sell-out of initial stock and causing a sold-out frenzy. The price is 5,000 KRW.

During a recent visit to a Daiso store, Dinto brand products were not found on the shelves. The clerk said most Dinto products were sold out and the shelves were filled with other brands. The few remaining Dinto products were gathered in one box. A Daiso employee said, "These are products to be sent to other stores, but I’m not sure if you’ll find what you want."

Inside a small box about the size of a shoe box were mixed eye palettes, plumping lip tints, foundations, powders, and more.

Among the five or six remaining eye palettes, the reporter chose 'No. 74 Little Lorca,' which is said to be a perfect match for warm-tone shading makeup. Dinto offers a total of four eye palette colors. No. 71 (Little Allcot) and No. 72 (Little Austin) are mute tones that can be chosen according to skin tone. Mute tones refer to colors with low saturation that give a soft impression. No. 71 is designed for lighter skin tones (17-20), and No. 72 for skin tones 21-23, according to the company. No. 73 (Little Salome) and No. 74 include glitter and are designed for cool and warm tones, respectively. Made in Korea, the manufacturer is 'Codi.'

The first impression was 'compact.' Compared to a 4-color eye palette sold at multi-brand shops (MBS), it was slightly smaller. The packaging is plastic and lightweight, making it suitable for portable use. When traveling, I worried about breaking 30,000-40,000 KRW eye palettes, but this product is a perfect fit.

The most important aspects of eye makeup are color combination, pigmentation, and longevity. The product colors were full of 'coral (orange)' tones suited for warm tones. The palette included an orange eyeshadow for the eyelids, a dark brown shadow for accents, and two types of glitter to add vitality to the face. Since I usually use a lot of eyeshadow when applying makeup, it was enough to apply separately on the aegyo-sal (under-eye fat), the triangular zone below it, and the inner corner of the eyes.

The pigmentation was light. After applying twice with a brush, it was hard to tell if the color was deposited on the eyes. When using all four colors evenly, it was necessary to apply the product multiple times to check if the color adhered well. The longevity was similar to other products. Over time, some creasing occurred due to oiliness. However, since this phenomenon can be influenced by other products like sunscreen and foundation, judgment is reserved.

A downside was powder fallout. When applied with fingers, the fine particles spread softly on the eyelids, but when using a brush, powder was visible on the eyelids and the edges of the product.

There was powder fallout on the surface of the products, and it took about five layers of application for the color to become vivid. Photo by Minji Lee.
