Anthropic CPO: "Generative AI Has Gone from Intern Level to Company Expert Now"

"If the first-generation generative artificial intelligence (AI) was like an intern who just joined the company, it has now reached the level of a ‘company expert.’ We are focusing on developing AI agents (assistants) that practically help with work."

Mike Krieger, Chief Product Officer (CPO) of Anthropic, said this on the 18th at the ‘Amazon Web Services (AWS) Unicorn Day 2025’ held at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

The AI startup Anthropic recently launched the AI language model specialized in personalized services, ‘Claude 3.7 Sonnet,’ and the coding-dedicated tool ‘Claude Code.’ Anthropic designed its AI to follow rules autonomously so that it can make ethical decisions. Recently, it has grown into one of the world’s leading AI companies by attracting large-scale investments from Amazon.

CPO Krieger emphasized, "Amazon is an important partner in terms of security and scalability," adding, "We are enabling AI services to operate within AWS hardware and platform." He expressed his pleasure at the rapid growth in the Korean market, saying, "Leading Korean companies are partnering with Anthropic and solving various business problems through Claude."

He stated, "This year, we will develop AI services into ‘collaborative collaborators’," and added, "We aim to help solve tasks that used to take hours within minutes and increase productivity." For example, when a sales user meets a customer, they can use Claude to get help by analyzing necessary information through web searches or internal company documents.

On this day, innovative cases were introduced where AI technology was developed using various functions provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS), leading to a leap to a unicorn with a corporate value exceeding 1 trillion won.

Jang Jeong-sik, CTO of Yanolja Cloud, said, "Yanolja declared a full-scale brand innovation in 2015 and started using AWS from 2016," adding, "Currently, under the new name ‘Nol Universe,’ it is stepping up as a global tech company."

Nol Universe, which combines the Yanolja platform and Interpark services, has R&D centers overseas in countries such as India and Israel and operates branches in 28 countries. CTO Jang said that by signing a company-wide contract with AWS, they have seen effects such as cost reduction and solving security issues.

So far, AWS has released various generative AI products to support AI startups. These include Amazon Q, Amazon Bedrock, and Amazon Nova, tools that help automate work and create generative images and videos.

Kim Tae-hyun, Head of AWS Korea Startup Solutions Architect, said, "Because AI is changing so rapidly, it is not easy to predict, but by looking at the business directions of customers, we have been able to identify key trends."

According to Kim, AI agents’ ability to logically analyze complex problems and execute appropriately is gradually strengthening. Also, multimodal technologies involving not only text but also voice and images are becoming essential.

He said, "As the method of flexibly combining various AI models spreads, development is moving toward achieving the best performance in specific areas." He added, "AI laws, standards, and guidelines for safe and responsible use will also accelerate the trustworthy adoption and spread of AI."
