Among the 15 major issues discussed at the meeting were important matters directly related to the future development of ‘Yangju New Town,’ including attracting an international skating rink, plans for opening schools in the Okjeong district, and expanding transportation infrastructure. The city’s active response and future plans regarding these issues were shared.

In particular, solutions to transportation problems such as operating shuttle trains at Deokgye Station, expanding the Gyeongwon Line service, progress on the Okjeong-Pocheon line, and plans to connect Okjeong and Deokjeong were focused on. In the education sector, realistic and concrete solutions were proposed for requests such as shuttle bus support for students assigned to distant middle schools within Okjeong.

Additionally, in-depth discussions continued on ways to improve the quality of life for citizens, including the improvement of waterfront parks in the Hoecheon area and the expansion of cultural and sports facilities.

Mayor Kang Su-hyun said, “Through this meeting, we were able to listen more closely to the voices of citizens and establish the direction Yangju New Town should take. We will do our best to further strengthen communication with citizens and reflect their opinions in policies.”
