Til Scheer, President of Volkswagen Korea, said, "The Golf has progressed with each of its 8 generations. Especially in Korea, it can be considered a pioneer that has raised the standard of compact cars to a new level," adding, "The new Golf, enhanced with more refined technology and design, will provide the highest satisfaction to customers seeking a premium compact car.”

The Golf is Volkswagen’s best-selling model worldwide, with over 37 million units sold. Even in Korea, known as the "graveyard of hatchbacks," a total of 54,644 units have been sold since the establishment of the local corporation in 2005 up to last year.

The new Golf inherits the heritage of the Golf spanning half a century while featuring refined and clean lines and a dynamic silhouette. The front end has a new front bumper design that adds a bold and sporty feel. For the first time in Golf history, an 'Illuminated Logo' has been applied. The Volkswagen emblem-shaped lighting and 'Radiator Grill Lighting' not only provide a modern aesthetic but also showcase the Golf’s presence on the road.

It delivers a maximum output of 150 horsepower (3000?4200 rpm) through a combination of a 2.0L TDI engine and a 7-speed DSG transmission. Notably, it produces a strong maximum torque of 36.7 kg·m in the everyday driving range (1600?2750 rpm). The engine is equipped with two selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems for nitrogen oxide reduction, reducing emissions by about 80% compared to the previous generation.

The official combined fuel efficiency is 17.3 km/L (15.2 km/L in the city, 20.8 km/L on the highway), which is the highest level among compact segment models in its class. This allows driving over 860 km on a single tank in combined conditions and more than 1000 km on the highway.

The new Golf is equipped with the latest 'MIB4 Infotainment' system. The display size has increased from the previous 10 inches to 12.9 inches, and it allows customized operation by placing frequently used menus directly on the three-split interface. Additionally, a voice support system called 'Voice Enhancer,' which facilitates communication between the driver and rear-seat passengers, is also standard.

The selling price (including VAT) is 40.07 million KRW for the Premium trim and 43.96 million KRW for the Prestige trim. Volkswagen Korea offers new Golf buyers a vehicle registration fee support of 2 million KRW, installation of a Volkswagen-certified black box, and a free warranty extension program for 5 years or 150,000 km.

Meanwhile, following this 2.0 TDI model, Volkswagen Korea plans to introduce the high-performance Golf model 'GTI' in Korea in June.
